Thomas "Tom" M. Tummins, 69, of Marietta died Monday, October 14, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 at 4pm in the chapel of Marietta Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3-4pm prior to the memorial service.

Tom was born in Baton Rouge LA while his parents Marvin & Lucille Tummins taught at LSU.  He moved to many locations with his family all the while playing various sports. He played football and ran track for Athens High.  He attended West Georgia College and was a founding member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He went on to graduate from West Georgia College with a BBA in Finance. While in college met and fell in love ith his wife Debby whom he was married to for 44 years. Tom worked in various corporate finance jobs including Capital Finance and McDonnell- Douglas.  He later on became self-employed with financial trading. He and his wife lived in their Marietta home for 40 years.

He loved sports of all types. He enjoyed golf, was an avid Alta tennis player.  He cheered on and supported his two sons Andy and Matt through all types of competition including baseball, basketball, and diving.  He was also a weekend sports nut. He loved college football especially the Georgia Bulldogs. He would also talk to any stranger and wanted to discuss any topic. He had a wide range of things he enjoyed from cars, nature, and his facination with the universe in general. He was a devoted to his three grandchildren who affectionately called him Tom.  He loved cooking with and for his grandkids. His silliness and jokes got him to be their funny grandfather. Tom's wonderful sense of humor kept his family laughing throughout his life.

He will be deeply missed by his surviving family of Debby his wife and best friend of 49 hears, his sister Sharon Tummins of Houston, Texas, his sons Matt Tummins (Marietta) , Andy Tummins (Cartersville ,Dawn Tummins (sweet daughter in law/ wife of Andy), his grandchildren Isabelle Tummins (9), Ansley Tummins (7) and Tate Tummins (5)and lastly his little dog Zoey. His extended family included brother in law Pat Berszenyi & his wife Karen Berzsenyi (Helen, GA) and numerous nephew and great nephews. In Lieu of flowers Tom would have like donations to be given to the Humane Society.
