Marietta Funeral Home & Crematory
3:00 - 4:00 pm (Eastern time)
Scott Gilliam was born on Saturday, July 8, 1950, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Ginny Smith (1925–2000) of Illinois and Bill Gilliam (1920–1984) of Texas. He was the protective older brother of Roger (1952–1994), whom he adored. While the boys spent their childhood in Missouri, Scott’s adolescence and young adulthood in Dallas and Austin marked him as a Texan.
A self-professed child of the sixties, Scott passed on his excellent taste in music to his children. He loved stand-up comedy, most sports, Ken Burns documentaries, and cult movies from the 1970s. Self-deprecating and always up for a good debate, he was happiest shooting the shit with his family.
As he wanted, Scott died peacefully in his sleep at home on Saturday, September 5, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Debra Gilliam; three children: Amber Corrente, Sami Gilliam, and Billy Gilliam; and three grandchildren: Anthony Corrente, Morgan Byers, and Remy Williams.
Marietta Funeral Home is honored to care for the family of Scott Gilliam.
