William Dutch Williams, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023, peacefully at home. Born in Vienna, GA, and raised in Cordele, GA, Dutch was the only son of Joann Wilkes Williams and William Strickland Williams Jr. While attending Crisp County High School, Dutch met the love of his life, Tyra Paulette Staines, and they married in 1971. The happy young couple then moved to Marietta, GA, in 1973 so that Dutch could pursue a degree in electrical engineering. He graduated with honors from Southern Tech in 1975. They welcomed their first child, daughter Amy Lauren Williams, in 1983, followed by their son, John Michael Williams, in 1985.

Dutch worked for various electrical contractors throughout his career. He retired in 2014 and began a new career as a professional cruiser with his wife and family.

Aside from travel, Dutch enjoyed playing Golden Tee, meeting players from around the world, and hosting tournaments at local venues. He was known as the godfather of the Golden Tee players in Atlanta.

Dutch was also an avid reader. He enjoyed anything he could get his hands on, from religion to politics, fiction to nonfiction. Often, he could be found reading four books at the same time.

Dutch is survived by his wife, Tyra Williams of Marietta, GA, his children, Amy Williams RNC-NIC, C-ELBW of Atlanta, GA, and Captain John Williams, Pilot USAF, and his wife Nicolette Williams MPH of Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota, sister Alicia W. Parker and husband James of Cordele, GA, sister Julie Williams of Columbus, GA, and dear family friend Beth Smith of Columbus, GA, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dutch also enjoyed a wealth of wonderful friends. He will be deeply missed by all.

No formal service will be held. The family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society or the Ayn Rand Institute.
